10 things you don’t want to forget on your wedding day
Your big day is fast approaching, you may be finalising all the last details, but is there something you may have left off your list? No matter how organised you are there is always something you will forget on your wedding day. Here are 10 things you won’t want to forget on your big day.
1. How are you getting your bridal party from point A to point B?
Most brides will arrange transport for themselves to the church, but what about the rest of the bridal party? Why not ask a friend or family member to help drive the rest of the bridal party to the ceremony or church.
2. Ask someone to keep your cards and gifts safe
Throughout the day you will be handed many gifts and cards and not have time to keep them all safe yourself. We recommend you nominate someone to take cards and gifts and put them away in a safe place.
3. Having a rain plan
If you’re planning an outdoor wedding or part of your day will take place outside, make sure you have a backup plan. You may have seen our previous blog post on adverse weather conditions. When unexpected weather hits, it can spoil the most organised of weddings.
4. Leave plenty of time in the morning
No matter how much time you leave to get ready in the morning, it never seems to quite be. Whatever time you think you should get ready, start one hour before. You don’t want to keep your guests waiting.
5. Have any pets?
If you do have pets, have a plan in place to make sure they’ll be taken care of while you’re tying the knot. Look at local kennels or someone who lives locally that isn’t invited to your wedding.
6. Plan your meals
One mistake many brides make is not eating breakfast and lunch before their ceremony. Make sure you have food planned and ready in advance. You don’t want hunger pangs whilst you say, ‘I Do’.
7. Take out wedding insurance
Although it may not be the first thing on your mind, wedding insurance can be a lifesaver if something were to go wrong on your wedding day that was out of your control. WeddingPlan looks to help make your wedding one of the most memorable days of your life. Why not protect your day with our competitively priced wedding insurance? Explore our 9 levels of cover here.
8. Save a slice of cake
When people say your day flies by, they’re not kidding. Among the excitement and rush of the day, eating some of the expensive wedding cake you paid for is the last thing on your mind. Ask one of your bridesmaids to save you and your groom a slice to enjoy the next day.
9. Appoint a post-wedding person
Most venues have rules and a time when you must remove all your décor and items from the venue. On your first morning together as a married couple, you might not want to be cleaning up. Ask a group of people to look after this, so you don’t have to.
10. Enjoy yourself!
After all your hard work and planning try to enjoy your big day. Days like this don’t come around very often, so don’t rush the day but take in every moment.
